Hi Mum, It's Sammy (Clone 63 - part 15)

It was only a week between our wedding and the day of the policeman's ball. I found out the name was traditional, it wasn't really a ball but just a party. It was going to be held at a medium sized warehouse that had been converted to two floors with lots of entertainment activities. As promised, Eddie and Howie had tickets as well as Jericho and I. We were all looking forward to getting out and having some fun.

Jericho came out of our room holding a gift wrapped box in his hands. "Sammy, I bought you a new shirt for the party. I hope you like it."

"It's a present from you. How can I help but love it?" Well, that's what I said before I opened it. As I started to pull the shirt from the box, I knew that saying I love it was a definite exaggeration. But Jericho was looking so happy and pleased with himself that I went ahead and put it on to wear to the  policeman's ball.

A frilly pink shirt. Sigh, the things I will do for love. Only my love for Jericho could get me in this shirt at an event that half the town is supposed to attend. I was very self-conscience when we first got to the party. It took two stiff drinks and some time before I could relax about it. It helped that the place was still really quiet when our household arrived.

Naturally enough, the entire police force, what we have of one, was there. After all, we were required to be there.

Jared was chilling out upstairs at the bar.

Felipe was chilling out downstairs, by the bar.

If the point of this event is to make sure that police socialise with other citizens, I think we fail. Cops like to grab a drink and head for a quiet corner. Both Jared and Felipe were hanging around the bars and not talking to anyone.

The other surprising thing to me was how few people were turning up, outside of my fellow cops. Either everyone else in town loves to get to parties late so they can make a grand entrance or what we'd heard about the event wasn't really true. Probably some combination of both. I didn't see Chuck around either, at least not early in the evening.

"Sweet, look at that DJ booth," said Eddie when we went to explore the upstairs. Since no one was manning it at the time, Eddie decided to give it a try.

It did take him a good five minutes to get himself oriented to the various parts of the control panel. But he had a blast doing it. And for his first try at it, he was doing well.

Howie was just dancing solo with the music. He might have been lucky that not many were upstairs yet, geek boy doesn't dance well. I'm sure that if someone had started giggling at him, he would have been out of there so fast that he would have been a blur.

Jericho and I were having a splendid time dancing. It was good to relax, unwind.

"Hey, Sam, why the hell don't we do this more often?"

"Life keeps getting in our way, Love. Work, babies, just stuff," I replied.

"We definitely need more 'us' time. What's the point of being attached to the best looking guy in town if I don't show him off more often," Jericho teased.

"Sounds like a plan, Jer." Right about then, I thought I saw Chuck turning to face the room at the top of the stairs. Jericho distracted me with a couple of pretty fancy steps, plus some wild hip action. When I next looked, Chuck had disappeared again.

Then we had our picture taken for the local paper. That photographer has been around me a lot lately, ever since the Pet Show. I guess she was hoping for a scoop.

It was far too late to worry about how the pictures might come out so I grinned and danced my best. Pink shirt and all, if you are going to do a thing, do it well.

Eventually, I wandered downstairs to see what might be happening there. That's when I finally actually saw Chuck.

He saw me at about the same time and came stalking over. "Grant,  I want a word with you." I gave him a bit of a look, he doesn't usually do the last name thing.

"Sure Chuck, what do you want?" I had no idea what was buzzing around his head under that oversized hat of his.  It seemed to be making him quite cranky though, he's usually a fairly easy going boss.

"I need you to come to my office, first thing Monday morning." He took a step toward me that left me quite uncomfortable.  "This is not really the time or place to talk."

"All right, I'll be there." I looked around. "Party still seems a bit dead."

"Well, go home. No one is keeping you here," was the rather scathing reply.

---

So Monday morning, just before patrol was due to begin, I entered Chuck's office.

He got up, walked behind me and slammed the door shut. "Grant, Saturday night. You came to the ball with that blue thing, yes?" The disgust in his voice was very apparent.

I went into instant attack mode. My eyes narrowed and I could hear my voice drop to a growl. "What do you mean? Blue thing? That's Jericho, my spouse. You said to bring our partners."

Steady Sammy, steady. Don't try and shake some sense into him, that would be assault.

"When I said bring your partner, I meant your girlfriend or wife. Someone normal. Not that thing," Chuck shouted.

"He is not a thing." I bellowed back. "He's the only person I'd want to take to that godforsaken party of yours. You didn't give me a chance to avoid going or avoid taking a second person, did you?"

Chuck stood stone still for a moment. When he next spoke it was quieter but still angry. "Well, that's not going to be a problem from here on out. You are fired. Don't bother turning in the uniform, I'd just have to burn it."

"What the hell?" I sputtered. "You can't fire me. I have a family to feed. I need this job."

"I am the senior officer here. I can fire who I want, and I have fired you. You are out. I don't want to see you or that blue thing anywhere near this station." Chuck was still talking at a normal volume but each word was dripping with hatred and contempt.

"This is discrimination. I'll sue. I'll sue this station, this town and you!"

He took a step closer to me. "Don't even think about it. Get out of my sight and never cross my path again."

I gave up the argument and stormed out of the office slamming the doors behind me. I walked, still seething with anger, into the centre of town. Was it going to be worth my while to try and sue for my job back? Should I just give in and look for something different?

Apologies for the 'party' pics. My game utterly refused to cooperate and crashed a couple of times trying to make it work so the guests never quite make it to the right place.

Bonus pics

Sammy, are you plotting something? Cause that look is awfully angelic for you.

Gratuitous butt shots. For the Sammy fans.

Needless to say, Sammy actually had to instigate Chuck into looking annoyed.

My dear grumpy boy does pull the best grouchy faces.

Oi, keep to the plot. No pee pee dance.

No, Sam is not going to calm down. He's officially cross now.

  1. Sue for the principal of the matter. Get Chuck fired! Meanwhile, look around for another job or passion.

    Nice pink shirt Sam ;)

    1. Well, obviously Sam will have to do something. It can't be legal to discriminate that way.

Sammy looks lovely in pink, doesn't he? :) He's been saving that shirt for a special occasion.

Wow, I definitely see where your post about discrimination came from. Poor Sam and Jer! I wouldn't want to work at a place like that anyways. That's horrid. Art least he looked amazing in that shirt!

    2. 'ello anonymous Sara! :)

Yeah, this is what I was thinking about when I wrote that discrimination post. In reality, Chuck wouldn't care that Sam is gay and his partner is blue. Not at all. In story, Chuck is a nasty little small town guy who can't cope.

LOL - I'm so glad I saved that pink shirt to Sammy's wardrobe. It's very spectacular.

  3. Chuck is a jerk! This would be a good time for Sammy and Jer to find a place by the sea! ;)

    1. I fear that Jer and Sammy have a bit further to go on this journey before they can escape to the seaside. But yeah, Chuck is a jerk.

  4. That's horrible! Sam should sue Chuck and get him run out of town!

    1. Hey SimChick,

Yep, tis horrible. Suing Chuck would at least solve the money problems they might have with an unemployed Sammy.

Goodness me, pink shirt is so popular. Sammy should wear more pink, obviously.

    1. Hey Avanis/winterhame/corvvi. Notice that Sammy agrees with you 100%. He's very peeved that Chuck keeps calling Jer "blue thing". Blue is beautiful, just ask Sammy. And yeah, nothing wrong with guys loving each other - which they do dearly.

  8. AH MY GAWD, What a twat!! I knew Chuck was bad news! Gah. Sammy had better show that guy what's coming to him!! Or Jericho, for that matter. "Blue thing". UGH. People like that should burn in the fiery depths of hell. T____T Poor Sam!! ♥ I hope he's able to get his job back, and get Chuck deposed... but I wonder how he'd be able to do that? Gah! I guess i'll just have to wait and see.

Sam definitely looks fabulous in the pinky puffy shirt, though. ;) There is nothing that says "manly" more than that, LOL!

I cracked up bigtime at the shot of Chuck doing the 'peepee dance' in that last bit, though. I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go? XD

Love this post, PiB--satiates the drama llama in me, haha!! ♥ Can't wait to see what happens next.

    1. Yeah, Chuck is bad new. Sammy is trying to stay within the law himself or he would have smacked Chuck a couple of times for 'Blue thing'. Chuck is a bigot both with Jericho's colouring and the fact that he has a gay cop. For that, he should indeed suffer.

Sammy looks fab. The pink puffy shirt only adds to it. There is more manly though - hot pink patterns...trust me, very manly. LOL

I hadn't realised Chuck needed to go that much. Maxmotives stopped him from ruining the scene.

Oh my, the drama llama is in for a treat. Wait till she gets to the next post.

  11. LOL aww, he looked so adorable in the pink ruffle shirt... only Sammy could pull that off and still look like a hottie!

I went from laughing my arse off, and my kids seriously thinking i am loonie, to steaming at the ears at the dork boss! Sammy should have pitch slapped him. Can't wait for next part... luckily I am reading now, after the fact so I just need to go click :)
