Hi Mum, it's Sammy (clone 47 - part 3)

This weird feeling is getting worse. Very much worse.

The core of my being was being ripped to shreds. I was broken into millions of pieces and then put together again. However I was put together differently.

It was agony. It was death and yet it was birth. I was me and yet I was different.

Then it was over.

I definitely feel - different - but exactly how different, I don't know.

Well, whatever that was all about, it can wait for the morning. I need some sleep after that.

When I got up the next morning, I was still feeling very different. My skin seems to look a bit different too.

Maybe I've been overdoing the gym thing. Working out too much, causing my body to just say no.

Fishing might be fun. Get out, enjoy some sun.

Damn, it feels like I'm running ten times faster than I did just yesterday.

Nice and relaxing. Just what the doctor would have ordered.

Someone has built a fire close by. Very close by. I can hear the sizzle.

No, it's ME? I'm on fire?

What the hell?

I hightailed it to the first place I could think of to drown the sparks, the local swimming pool.

But the moment I walked in the building, I started to feel much better. Cool relief just getting out of the sun.

I know you are supposed to use sunblock and limit your exposure but no one told me that the sun can be so intense it makes you catch fire.

This is one of the Spinster sisters. I think this one is Lucille.

I wanted to met her because she looks...

She looks...

Like prey?

Where the hell did that thought come from?

I made the mistake of saying something like that to her.

"Keep your fangs to yourself mister."

"What? What fangs?"

"Does the innocent line work on any of your intended victims?"

This was just too weird for me. I decided to stop by the hospital and have a check up.

I went in once and was almost immediately thrown out.

"We do not serve your kind here. Try the science lab."

My kind? Since when do hospitals refuse to serve men?

I decided to show them. I went back in to grab some stuff from a store room.

"Urggh, monsters. There are monsters here!"

I think Constance has been overworking herself. What monsters? It's only me and her.

I ended up with several packs of plasma from the plasma bank. I don't quite know why that's what I wanted to grab but it was. This has been the weirdest day.

So I went to the science lab.

"That will be 3,000 simoleons please."

"What?"

"Aren't you here for the vampire cure?"

"I'm here because the hospital said you people help my kind. I still don't understand anything."

She flipped out a little pocket mirror and handed it to me.

I very nearly dropped the mirror. Holy havoc, I knew my skin was looking a bit different today - but the eyes, the teeth. No, not teeth, fangs. I have fangs.

When I came out of the lab, it was dark and the difference was enormous. I suddenly felt a surge through my body, new abilities were mine to use.

I am a vampire and the dark is much kinder to me than sunlight.

Suddenly the day made more sense. The problem with sun, the feeling that someone was prey, the refusal of the hospital to even look at me and why I stole plasma.

So I went over to the Spinster house. I had some unfinished business to take care of.

I tried a few of my abilities to convince Lucille to offer me her plasma.

When I met Lucille during the day, it was like normal. Like from before being a vampire. I could chat, flirt, and joke but there was nothing different about how I could interact with her. The main difference was that bit about thinking of her as prey.

At night, I can do so much more.  Now I can read minds and force others to think of me.

And yet, this still wasn't enough. I was annoyed that it still wasn't enough to get what I want. What I need.

I finally gave up on this for tonight. I need to drink and I need to drink now. So I pulled out one of the plasma packs I had stolen.

It was very late from a human point of view, so I left the Spinster house and headed for the gym.

Then I made the interesting discovery that vampires don't get fatigued exercising. Or at least not if they exercise at night. I have no idea if this works as well during the day. I'll find out eventually, I suppose.

I stayed at gym long enough to work up a huge sweat, then headed for home.

I slept away what little night remained and well into the day. It's going to be hard to switch to sleeping during the day. Habits are a hard thing to break.

The next day, I finally took a shower only to have the shower break.

It turns out vampire powers are no match for broken showers. My shower stayed broken in spite of what I tried.

Guess I'll just have to repair it.

But not now. Right now, I need plasma. Soon.

So I arranged to meet with one of my few friends in town, Angelo Averti. He's one of my coworkers and a nice guy.

I hope he's a very nice guy.

"Angelo, I have a big favor to ask."

"Yes, Sam?"

How do you put this? I need a Vampire for Dummies book. That would be useful. "Look, can I put the bite on you? Literally?"

"What?"

"I need plasma, Angelo. I need to drink. Would you?"

I can't say that Angelo was exactly enthused by my request. But he did willing offer his arm.

"Ouch, can't you do that more gently?"

"I'm trying but it's not easy. Stop moving so much." I didn't tell him it was my first time. Nor that I was in trouble because we were outside and the sun was already hurting me.

But man, was that tasty. Way better than the plasma packs from the hospital.

"The monster. Someone save me from the monster."

Yes, there is a monster. And it's me.

The real bite that infected Sam. Friad that it wasn't some mysterious bite when running from the crypt

But the vampire I put next door to Sam for the purpose of biting him.

No idea what this look was about but it was kind of cute.

Hi Mum, It's Sammy (clone 47 - part 2)

I did make it home and found the postman had left bills.

Stupid post. I don't need no stinking bills. It's not like I have a lot of money now.

Now I have even less money. I better work hard, I really need that promotion.

I only had a few more places left to check out in town. The consignment shop was one.

I stopped to talk to Luke McDermott who seems to think he's a real cowboy.

I checked, we don't have any real farms or cattle around here. And Luke is one of my fellow team mates. So who does this guy think he's going to impress?

Finally got up to the counter and had a look at the items available. Got a nice deal on a book I should read. Martial Arts, that could be interesting.

I wonder how far book learning can take you on that sort of skill? It seems like you need practice more than typeface.

Chatted to Billy while I was at it.

Finally had a chance to go into the Water Hole Juice Bar. Not a big crowd tonight but there are a few ways to entertain yourself without anyone else. I suspect that foosball is more entertaining with others. If only I could find some nice girls to play with. Or some naughty ones, that could be even more fun.

I tried inviting a few friends over but none of them were available. [sigh] Sounds more like none of them like me enough to come actually. Either that or they know I still don't have comfortable furniture yet.

That bite from the Mausoleum is still a bit painful. Warm and tender to the touch.

The next morning, I indulged in a making a nice hot breakfast.

Single serve only, the fridge is ultra cheap and barely keeps stuff for a day. Even then it's always off tasting.

Then I sat to eat my food on the only seat in the house.

Maybe I should save some of my pay for a bit more furniture?

Nah, this will be fine. Since no one wants to visit anyway, what the heck would be the point?

After breakfast, it was time to head for the gym.

I so seriously need to build up. It's the only way I'll get promotions that I really need.

It's definitely a major part of my routine. Get to gym, get sweaty.

I am improving little by little.

Then head home. Followed by going to work.

I finally had my first promotion, up to snack hawker.

Why the hell did they put us through so much to get these jobs if selling junk food was all I was going to be doing? Anyone wandering down the street could do this.

Will this bite never stop bothering me?

It's starting to make me feel feverish. That really can't be good. Practically like my blood is on fire.

Maybe I just need a bit more sleep. I'll turn in early, it will all be better in the morning.

Another day, a burnt breakfast and still no better place to eat in the house.

I know this bit is going to shock you. After breakfast,  I went ... to the gym.

Yep, a real shocker that.

Have to get those reps up.

The coach has heard about my training and he wants me to start mixing the strength work with cardio. I'll have to think about that.

After my workout, I met someone else new. Dude is called Moe Pesce I think.

We hit it off fairly well, I'm hoping that we'll get to be gym buddies soon. Working with someone means you have to try even harder.

More stupid bills. How is a man ever to get ahead in life if people demand money from you every day or two?

After paying the bills, I headed for bed.

I suddenly woke up and climbed out of bed.

What the hell?

I feel odd. Very very odd.

Hi Mum, It's Sammy (clone 47 - part 1)

Hi Mum.

I seemed to have arrived at a small house in a small town called Riverview. The house is cramped with only the most basic furnishings, a few things in the kitchen and a very cheap bathroom installed.

Being new in town, in my first couple of days, I did all the things you are supposed to do.

The first thing to take care of was getting a job. Riverview had a number of job vacancies open.

I was lucky, one of those vacancies happened to be in sports. So I went over to the stadium to try out. I made the first cut pretty quickly.

Then we all had to take a class in athletics. That was pretty tough, the girl leading the aerobics nearly killed me and she wasn't even breathing hard.

Then the coach put us through a few basic maneuvers. The two of us still standing after half an hour of that got the jobs.

After getting the job, I wandered around town getting acquainted with some of the local people.

Outside of the stadium was the Grisby family. I had a brief chat to Walter and said hello to his wife and daughter.

I probably shouldn't say this but the Grisby family is an ... interesting looking set. I didn't think humans came with such big ears.

Later I wandered to the middle of town. There were lots of people around the Theatre, this is Christi.

She seems like a nice girl, we got along well.

I walked down the main strip, poked my head into the bookstore, the grocery store, and the day spa. Found that there is a small bar at one end, the local watering hole. Called, I think, the Water Hole.

Having spent hours wandering around town, I had worked up quite an appetite. The closest place to eat was the Bistro. I had a quick look in my wallet and the Bistro prices.

Then I hoofed it over to the local diner. The food is probably no where near as good here but it's also far more in my price range.

My second day in town started with a work out session. I'll need to be ready for my job, the fitter I am, the faster that coach is going to promote me.

It's difficult, pushing yourself to your physical limits. So often, I want to just stop, but I manage to keep going to the end of the workout.

After I finished the workout, I visited city hall. It's really an impressive building, given how tiny the town is.

I wandered over to the local junk yard.

You wouldn't believe some of the stuff people discard in town. A few of the pieces are even usable, though they aren't in good condition by the time they've been outside for a few weeks.

I visited the fire station. No one was around then so I tried to climb the fire pole.

I failed twice over. It's tricky going up one of those.

I finally made it up then slide back down. It's almost worth thinking about a career in firefighting just so I have a good excuse to do this more often.

There was a spook tour of the old Mausoleum just inside the graveyard. It sounded like a blast. You know the sort of thing; go in, be told about tons of local folklore of ghosts seen and scary things happening. Then come out again nice and safe.

Well, the tour was going well. But I got separated from the main group after I stopped to take a few photos of some of the more interesting sepulchres in the main chamber.

There was a branch in the path, I went to the right. That was a mistake, I walked into a part of the Mausoleum that wasn't part of the tour and wasn't regularly visited.

I wonder if there was a money back guarantee on that tour. Because I want my money back. That was the worst tour I've ever had.

That branch to the right had occupants. Several of them, and they were quite large. Quite large and very grumpy about being woken up from their nice long hibernation.

Yes, I had trod on the paw of a sleeping bear and it wasn't happy with me.

Being attacked by several bears at once was the scariest moment of my life.

Well, it might have only been one or two bears but in the dark, I felt as though there were at least a dozen surrounding me. I was lucky to escape their den.

Not only did the bears maul me for daring to enter their den. While I was running for my life, something bit me. By that point, I'd lost my flashlight, my heart was pounding so hard it was the only thing I could hear.

So I have no idea what bit me. But that bite is making me feel quite ill.
